Mark,

Congrats on scoring the tickets for Hamilton.  We were fortunate to have our kids get tickets for us last fall in Chicago and it was really awesome.  One thing that struck me about it was that it is billed as a musical.  I am so 20th Century that when I think musical I think of something like the Sound of Music where there is both dialogue and songs.  Writers and composers are always pushing the envelope in their creativity and you can see it in Hamilton.  Hamilton was all songs so I wonder if it is actually the first hip-hop opera, much like The Who's "Tommy" was the first rock opera.

Years ago I read the Gore Vidal novel "Burr" and really enjoyed it.  Having the similar story told from a different viewpoint was good.  I did like all the songs which suprised my kids as they figured I would not do well with the hip-hop music but it was great.  My favorite song was the last one,  "Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story?" but they were all good.  Hope it is as enjoyable for you as it was for me.

Enjoy your bucket list accomplishment!

Forgive me Dave, but I just had to intervene and post a recollection about Aquinas (before I forget it, forget what)

Aquinas and it's classes, as many know was run and taught mainly by Dominican Priests.  Exception was the "Sports/Athletic" section AND one BROTHER.  The Brother had been married and had children.  When his wife died he dedicated himself to the Dominican Order.  At Aquinas we were taught that any LEGITIMATE question or concern could be asked of ANY teacher at any time.

During one class with the Brother, one of the students asked a simple question, he thought.  Brother, can you tell us when a man stops thinking of women.  To our amazement, the brother responded immediately.  "Six Months after Six feet".  Of course none of us waswell enough versed in scripture, or what he was saying, so a further question was asked.  What do you mean by "Six Months, after Six Feet".  Again, without hesitation the Brother responded.  Six months after you're six feet under.  So thats what we have to look forward to  for at least six months after we are dead.

Today I have been thinking of back when I was a kid - almost every morning at breakfast (when he hadn't left early for the hospital), Dad would recite what we call the "Prayer of St. Francis" (althought it is nowhere in his own recorded writings - it is still worth quoting).

And I thought it was sooo boring!

But today that first line comes back to me again and again;

"Lord make me an instrument of Your Peace"

Reminding everyone about our "55th Grade School Reunion" coming up a week from Saturday August 26th at 6pm. Details on the home page.

Joe McCarthy, you are in town now? Have you been in touch with anyone who might come? You mentioned Tom Fitzpatrick. Is he coming? He needs details because he's not on our class list.  Is anyone else out there urging friends to come?  Here is the latest list. If you are coming and aren't on here or know of someone who is coming and isn't listed let me know. Several out of towners and out of state on the list!  Should be a fun evening. smileycoolyesheart

Just jealous...way jealous. I would give anything to see you all again.

I haven't spent a lot of time in Big C since college. On the many short trips back I have seen a few folks and have always asked if they have seen others and the answer has always been "No, we don't all hang out much". Maybe I was posing the question to the wrong folks, don't know. But I do know that I was always missing the general friendship that came with being a member of '66.

So for anyone who has a chance to get to Columbus and have a brew with all you guys...I'll stand out on US 12 hitching a ride the day before....pick me up. IT'S TIME TO PAAAAARRRRRTY! Wish I could make it.

Wow. So many people I'd like to see on that list and so sorry I can't come. New school year approaching and I have meetings to go to and a syllabus to put together and blah blah blah. Appreciate all of you and it's just not fair we can't time travel and spend just ten minutes in our home rooms. I might actually be mature enough at this point to behave myself.

Dave, I had to leave the 50th  before the end - are you kidding me?! Did I miss the dirty dancing?????

For those of you from St Michael's and Aquinas I have an rsvp to our August 26th party from Tom Fitzpatrick. Possibly Dick McNamara. Approaching 40.  Be there or be square!

Yes, Dave, something wonderful did happen.  I think we discovered that the people in our class are really as great today as we thought they were back then.

Janie,

Please say hello to Tom Fitzpatrick for me if he shows.Ask him if he still has his one of a kind St. Michael's letter jacket.

Mark, I hope Tom shows.  Joe says he just spoke to him and he's coming. Maybe we can get in touch and have him bring it since it's our grade school reunion! Joe McCarthy are you reading this? Ask Tom Fitzpatrick to bring his one of a kind St Michael's letter jacket. Tell him we are bringing grade school memorabilia. :)

Donna Kelley (Velazquez)

Thanks to all for your emails and other messages after the attack today.  We are safe but are still reaching out to many friends around town to be sure that they are too. A sad day for Barcelona, another sad day for the world.
