Tim,

Thank  you for allowing me to breathe a sigh of relief that I am not in the top 10 on your BWHS list! smiley

As for the information I posted, it was just that....information. We can all take from it what we will.

"Warms my librarian heart to see everybody digging into research. Hooray for an informed citizenry."*

*(The following statement is meant to be humorous but sometimes my social filters just don't work right.)

The above statement was not researched by me but simply stolen and modified to suit my needs.  In some ways that is a kind of research just not very honest.

But on a more serious note, I agree with Mike in that I like to read these postings that show that the writer has thought things out and tried to verify the facts on their own rather than just to repeat things from popular sources.  I do follow the links that you all post and I appreciate it.  Even though I do not participate in the political discussions I do like reading what you all say.

Allow me to say a few words about fear and fear mongering. Aprapo considering it's Holloween. Are you scared yet. So what is our government going to do about this incect invasion? Bugs carrying desease have been sent by our enemies, the boogeymen, to kill our beloved American incects, rendering us defenseless agaist the impending worm invasion. Be afraid! I'm scared to death. Over a million Praying Manti have been discovered in a cave in Kentucky. This is so serious, but our fake news is completely ignoring it because its not politics or crime. I was talking with Pollyanna and she's arming herself with cans of raid. But there is a rumor that these bugs are impervious to poison through genetic modifications. We're screwed! Aaaaarrrrrugggghhh!

First of all, thanks to Larry for the BEAUTIFUL photograph of Ohio(?) trees in Fall! And on the immigration issues that we face, we have legal ways to enter the country and everyone who wants to come here must go through them. That is the purpose of the rule of law.  It is the duty of cities like Chicago to turn over to ICE  anyone who needs to be returned to their country for illegal entry or any other valid reason, like committing a crime.   Recently, in the Chicago newspapers, there was an article that  we are facing a population problem in th U.S. because because people are not reproducing the way we have done in the past. So we may very well need  to allow more people, who have been screened carefully, into the country. And Amerian businesses with overseas plants etc. should  build some over here.  In regard to the people  who are on their way now  from South America... they need to be  checked very carefully  so we do not let in people who will be a danger to our county. The type of people brave enough to try to get here may very well be people that we would be proud to have live here. However, anyone entering  the country illegally,  should be barred permanently. Wow. Larry. That phrasing about having your librarian heart warmed! Touch of genius I must say. I couldn't have said it better myself. What a wonderful writer you are turning out to be!

Dear "Bugsie" Maxwell

Thanks for brigning up the bit about the bugs and the praying Manti. But you forgot to mention this important story; Scientist are compiling information on snakes farting. Just imagine trying to get by without this crucial information.

And Mike, I realize you were probably already doing some deep reasearch on this matter to present to us later. Sorry if I "trumped" your timing.

https://www.usatoday.com/videos/news/world/2018/10/30/do-snakes-fart-scientists-uncover-truth-animal-toots/38326919/

Can't wait to get my hands on the two books mentioned at the end of the video;                         "Does it Fart" and "True or Poo?"

Tim,

Thanks for thinking about stopping by here in Beaufort, please make yourself comfortable. Unfortunately I will be “leaving on a jet plane, don’t know when I’ll be back again “.

i am leaving because there are 2,000 refuges is a caravan heading our way to take over our town. They are comprised of some “very bad people” like murderers rapists and God forbid starving women and children. However I hear 45 is sending 15,000 troops armed with AK 47’s and Nazi skin heads heading down there to save us. What a guy😆😭😢

White Hickory Tussock Moth Caterpillar

Border Crossing  of a Different Nature

A small creature is crossing over our Canadian border and is showing up in large numbers here in Pennsylvania. This cute and fuzzy little caterpillar is venomous and catches the curiosity of children.

Unfortunately when cuddled  in ones hands, it’s little hairlike spines inject a venom that may or may not elicit  a strong allergic reaction . My 3 year old grandson was it’s victim. He experienced  a strong reaction with rash covering his whole body.  He was in great pain for several weeks. So if you’re  out exploring keep an eye out for this little guy——- A case for “Looks can be deceiving”

I hope these pictures don’t post gigantic!

that's terrible! I'm so sorry!

Dr. Jim posted a warning about this not long ago.

Mary Ann,

As you travel, you can practice the new lyrics Bruce Springstein came up with overnight.

"Born, to white parents, one man and one woman, who have lived for at least two generations, in the USA".

If you sing it real fast it's prety catchy. Word is he us changing his name to Springfield!

Logic? Instead of being very proud of "being the only country on earth" to allow citizenship to any child born here...something that you could argue makes our country honestly great...let's attack that part of the constitution. The founders were wrong there...but luckily they got it right when they decided every man should have a gun.

The only difference is that babies don't have NRA funding.

Tim,

Your comments about “someone who needs their thoughts put in order and dished up for them by someone else. Someone who isn't able to make a coherent argument” may be true sometimes, not only or me but, for others.

Everyone is not eloquent and able to verbalize our thoughts as many of you here. It takes me forever to write, rewrite, rewrite...oftentimes I cannot remember many details but only generalities. However, I do remember my views and feelings about it.  I don't care what you, or anyone else thinks about my lack of debate talents.

So, when I read an “opinion” that expresses my view exactly, and find that it is stated better than I could, I may repost it giving credit to the author. I make no apologies for it.

HOWEVER, that is not what this was—it was a post with different info from a group supposedly on site interviewing.

John J,

I am not trying to "convince" you, or anyone, of anything.  I never stated any opinion about the report, just posted different info.  Sorry, if you thought I  was. My bad. I will try to remember to make a disclaimer if there is a next time, which I  doubt.

Mike M.,

My post had nothing in it about a false video from 2012, which was referred to often in your "credible" sources. Not sure why left-leaning sources are more accurate than any other, maybe they are—only those present could possibly know.  Where does one find unbiased  reporting? Maybe, probably nowhere. But that could be a forever debate which I would not be a part of since I lack the the skills for, as I already stated.

And come on, Mike...SNOPES.COM. Really?

BLESSINGS on this feast of ALL SAINTS!

Good to know that we all care so much about our country.

Going off grid for a few days (no phones or computers or watches), staffing another Marked Men For Christ retreat on a mountian top up in N.C.

About a 150 guys trying to get up the nerve to let down our "tough guy" masks and get real with God and each other.

Exciting but exhausting weekends. Re-discovering a love so powerful that it's life changing!

And there will be more cowbellsseriously - lots of cowbells on Saturday night.

One of my prayers will be to thank HIM for the wonderful gifts of family and friends, and the freedom to enjoy them all in peace. Friends like this crazy wild bunch of "perfect" human beings who happend to crawl out of our family caves somewhere along the wetlands of the Scioto and Olentangy about 70 seasons ago.

Think about that!  A gift!

       Ezekial 36:26

p.s. the other gift is that you won't have to listen to any of my pontificatiing for a whole 2 or 3 days - knock yourselves out !!!!!

It is so nice, all the incredible photos, stories, and videos, that reside on this site. The class of '66 should be proud of your individual accomplishments. I praise all the contributors for taking the time to share. I have learned so much from each of you and look forward to more. Even the political and controversial topics are intelligent and interesting. Watterson has produced some talented and interesting folks. I for one, truly appreciate all of it. Keep on keepin on. Love it all. Dave, never thought of you as a pontiff. But you may look good in a mitre and bejeweled vestments. Ahh Catholic humor.

Linda: yes, really. Though people with agendas have tried to discredit it and I'm sure they've made mistakes. It's a helpful and reliable site. But always use multiple sources.

You keep checking to see if anyone has written anything new.

And all you get is me.

I think democracy may be something like my pet doggie, Matey. If I fail to appreciate, to love, or properly feed her, she is liable to feel like an unneeded member of our family; shrink into a corner; cause me to think she is unwell.

Democracy cannot thrive and stay "needed" unless we appreciate it, love it and feed it. I think we do appreciate and love our democracy because that follows our upbringing. We do that quietly or conversely, we get a US flag tattoo somewhere.

But feed democracy? To me, democracy as an idea grows and thrives when we disagree on what it means to each of us. That discussion and verbal hair pulling, I believe, acts as the food our form of government requires to flourish.

If politics is temporarily the new contact sport, aren't we all lucky to have 50 yards line seats for Tuesday's Super Bowl?

James Hamilton, M. D.

Tim,

When many of us were just embryos, on November 11, 1947, Winston Churchill said that "Democracy is a very bad form of government, except for all the others.". He was a wise and at times witty man. America's democracy is the world standard and I pray it always will remain so. It must, otherwise this Forum might have to end!! 😱

Jim,

Thanks for your reply...but I'm worried about our sedate tone here. Let's try this.

YOUR GUY IS A BUM AND HE WILL GET SEVERELY REPRIMANDED ON TUESDAY. CAN YOU TELL I AM SHOUTING AT YOU!!

As I chant,

"We will,

We will

ROCK YOU"!

I am reminded to recommend Bohemian Rhapsody to movie goers. Queen wasn't my group but their music grabs you and Freddie's story is so 'of our age'...I promise, you'll be rockin' in your seats! Shake that groove thang!

As the night goes on tomorrow, one side is going to be singing,

"Trump.....Trump....Another one bites the dust!" but which side will it be?

I am just a frustrated would-be announcer for Lex's Live Wrestling.

Jack,

I think you're right. I never did think those white slippers with golden buckles were my best look. But I did like big hats when I was a kid. Maybe more horizontal than vertical - you know, like Hoppy, Gene, and Roy.

But bless you my son - anyway.

pssst , Im baaaack!  I know you missed me.
