Janie, I will be raising my glass over here on June 11th in a toast to Dennis' life.  Big hug.

Well......I was minding my own business this morning (my family would tell you that this never, ever happens!!!) and when I logged on to Facebook, this "On This Day"photo was staring right back at me!!  Since it is prom season everywhere, I thought some of you on this message forum might get a chuckle out of this "throwback to the sixties"!

Such a cute picture! Crick looks a little stiff and uncomfortable.  Not all wrapped around you like I see all these grandchildren prom pictures these days. Lol.

Aww, MM. You two are adorable! Miss that ornery guy!😢😘

Mary Margaret,

Such an adorable picture of you and Crick!  Can it really be 50 years ago?  Seems like yesterday.  Funny how a picture like that can bring the memories flooding back.  Wish we could do it all over again!!

Mary Margaret,

Shame on you!  I think that's pretty silly to try to pass off those grade school faces that you obviously "photoshopped" into the older prom outfits. Kinda like those old fashiond carnival figures where you stick your face through the hole and it looks so funny - only you did a really good job of it with this photo - yea, really, really good! Almost fooled me complely.

Just popped back on to post this YouTube clip that Ray Browning's son, Stephen put up on FB about Clintonville.  Perhaps some have already seen it before, but if not, take a journey back in time :).

P.S.  I meant to comment on my "bouffant" prom hair style......I need to show the picture to a few of my grandkids who think I have "poofy" hair now!!! LOL

Mary Margaret,

That video is from the same WOSU TV series about many of the neighborhoods in Columbus - one of which I posted a few months back (but cannot now find?). Some late comers to the forum may find the Video on Clintonville especially intersting - especially what was ALMOST built where Graceland Shopping Center is now. (which I cannot find now from my earlier post).

My dad and a lot of that generation used to hang out at the pool at Olentangy Park as a kid and learned to dive off the high platform (about 32 feet). But as he got older he lost his nerve. He raved about his boyhood memories at "Oly Park" - the rides, the pool, the dance hall - all his life.

p.s. going back and looking for my old post has revealed some strange observations in some of the old pages.

James Hamilton, M. D.

There have been multiple posts on this Forum mentioning our mothers. This Sunday is Mother's Day and, once again, let's all cherish those memories of our moms. Maybe some of them are still physically with us but most are - and always will be - with us in spirit and in our hearts.

They seem to have raised us well and, unlike the mother in this photo, taught us to correctly walk down that road of life.

So, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all of them and to all of our classmates who are themselves mothers!

Jim,

What's the plural of Moose?  Or are they some other type of animal?

05/11/17 03:07 PM #1245

James Hamilton, M. D.

Fred,

Trick question!

The plural of moose is moose!

The three moose in this picture are indeed, moose. The mother is in the lead. The bull moose (father), who was with them when I took this picture, got spooked by an oncoming car and and took off into the forest. Coward!!!

Maybe he was trying to lead his family to safety. Had it been another moose, he may have stood his ground. I've actually been studying some hooved critters in my yard recently. It sure is interesting. I could show some pictures but I don't see how to load them from my divice. Perhaps some advice is needed. Anyway, lovely photo, Jim. To Mothers everywhere enjoy your families this coming Mother's Day. I miss my mom, I'll probably fix a meal she taught me to make.

John,

The bull moose was bringing up the rear when he split for the trees. Mom just kept on leading her kids down the road. Who knows??

Anyway, as for uploading pictures, I can only do it on my computer as then there is an icon on which to click that allows adding a picture. That icon is not available on my cellphone.

What kind of hooved critters have you been observing and what have you learned? The ungulate population in my yard is limited to mule deer and I also enjoy watching their behavior.

Jim

Jack, Jim,

This message form pops up when you hit reply on the forum. Press the second icon on top row to right of source.  It then brings up next screen that allows you to choose a photo file and upload it. I am doing this right now from my iPhone.  I don't know about others.

Janie,

Thanks. That is the page to which I was referring that comes up when I click on "Post Response" when I'm on my desktop or laptop computer. But when using my Android cellphone all that comes up is a box in which to type a message but no icons to add pictures, italics, bold print or anything else. Must be different with the I-phone.

Jack, your photo has to be a "JPEG". I won't take a PDF which mine were in before I realized this. And it does take a few moments for it to load.

-------------------------------

been trying to figure out how to load that shot with Steve Hodges and my kids for over a month.

It took me forever but I found this on the website at the bottom right of each page where it says,

click on  "powered by Class Creator".

From there you see a top menu row begining with "Features", Find School, "Helping Hand",,,, etc.

When you click on "Helping Hand" you see a bunch of topics, but keep scrolling to very botttom left to "Help Center" and see small "on-line forums" to the right of that big question mark in a circle. I went into the first topic "General Discussion" and found it way down this list about "posting photogtraphs"

-------

and that from the most technically challenged lame brain on the planet.

Bring back my dial phone for Pete's sake!

Our phone exchange was "AMHERST" - The first number I ever memorized was "AM3- 5134"

What were some of the other "exchanges"?  I only rember mine and Hudson (HU,,,,,).

And I only sold that original old dial phone with heavy metal housing and the big "pick-up receiver at a garage sale about 20 years ago. How stupid of me!

In Clintonville in the mid-1950's, we had a 6 character phone number, LUdlow-9747. Later it was changed to AMherst8-9747 and finally 268-9747. My wife's exchange in Eastmoor was BElmont, my relatives in Lancaster, Ohio were all OLive.

Somewhere there was BEachwood4-5789 --wait, NO, that was a song by the Marvelettes!

Arlington was Hudson, short north area was Axminster. We were in Worthington and had Tuxedo -5 and Westerville had Tuxedo-2. Downtown had Capital. My grandmother lived in the south end (before we had German Village that's what we called it) and she had Hickory. I had an aunt and uncle on the west side but that one is escaping me.

Janie,

The westside was Broadway (27) and the near eastside was Clearbrook (25).

As long as we are on numbers:

"1230, the new WCOL!"

I remember that part. But I always wondered what kind of music they played at the OLD WCOL. And how long had the NEW WCOL been new?

I'm amazed at the topics that draw response on this site. I thought my "AMHERST" comment would be a joke and go "thud".  We must all have too much time on our hands - LOL
