ROYCE - Joseph Anthony Royce, age 56, of Columbus, died Saturday, April 3, 2004 at Grant Medical Center. Joseph was employed with the State of Ohio, Department of Taxation, and was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era. He is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Jason; brother, Fred (Nancy) Royce of Louisville, KY; nieces, Lindsey Royce of Denver, CO and Emily Royce of Louisville, KY; sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Sam Barney of Hilton Head, SC; nephew, Tim Barney of Columbus. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
I remember Joe when we were in the Air Force reserves and going to meetings in Wilmington Oh. for our bi=monthly meetings. We'd leave early in the morning around 5:30am from Athens Oh or Ohio University and drive the 2 1/2 hrs. to our meetings. Joe would tell me all these ideas he'd have about things that would make great improvements in the way we live. I would tell Joe that he was trying something that was never tried before and that it would be very difficult to achieve. Looking back at our travels I wish I had been more supportive of the ideas Joe had had. I always enjoyed my trips with Joe he was a thinker and doer and a very good friend. God bless him and his family.
