James Hamilton, M. D.

Mike B.

How many times did he confabulate?

My point here is not so much about lies as it is about mental health.

Politicians lie all to frequently and I do not condone that. It is just a common thing that many do and it is right to challenge them when we think they are lying. Also, sometimes what is considered by some to be a lie, ends up later to being the truth. The opposite is also sometimes true.

Who would you rather have with their finger on the nuclear codes: a liar or a confabulator or a delusional president? Of course the correct answer would be none of the above. As I said, I don't think Biden is delusional.

Jim

I think Mike B's score above is more or less accurate.  This quote, from the New York Times link in MM’s previous post, strikes just about the right balance:

For more than four decades, Mr. Biden has embraced storytelling as a way of connecting with his audience, often emphasizing the truth of his account by adding, “Not a joke!” in the middle of a story. But Mr. Biden’s folksiness can veer into folklore, with dates that don’t quite add up and details that are exaggerated or wrong, the factual edges shaved off to make them more powerful for audiences.

Mr. Biden’s instances of exaggeration and falsehood fall well short of those of his predecessor, who during four years in office delivered what the Washington Post fact checker called a “tsunami of untruths” and CNN described as a “staggering avalanche of daily wrongness.”

Former President Donald J. Trump lied constantly, not only about trivial details (like insisting it hadn’t rained during his inauguration when it clearly had) but also about consequential moments — misleading about the pandemic, perpetrating the “big lie” that Mr. Biden stole the 2020 election, and claiming falsely that the Capitol was not attacked by his supporters on Jan. 6, 2021.

Attention:

As of this afternooon, this ofice is officailly re-opened and avaialbe for public comment.

But I am disappointed that noe of you have used it for it's intended use as a format for public commnet on the NFL Draft.

SHAME ON YOU ALL!  (and go Broncos!)

As for the small matter of one guy who is on the verge of falling down when he walks, (and may be on the verge of senility), and another guy who has no clue what the truth is, or ever was ("There is no Sin in Adultry" -  "John McCain is a loser"  - or Trump "University"), I believe noone in this group is about to win this agrument.

But for something this interesting to come out of he "Draft" is enought to remind us all of the good in this imperfect world.

Have a listen to this amazing and uplifting news story.

(Broncos 1st round pick - Bo Nix - Oregon - and his "brother", Tez Johnson)

Jim:

I'm guana make you regret saying that.

And Mike B: thanks for the stat line.

As a journalist I learned that statistics CAN lie, on relatively rare occasions.

But in a million years they'll never catch up to people.

I DIDN'T GOOGLE!!!!

And I forget if I mentioned this but I have an appt. with a neuropsychologist about strategies to deal with forgetfulness and ebbing mental acuity. I have a lovely significant other who is managing me on that score.

And yep doing new things, creating new interests and new challenges, is, I am sure, going to be the prescription.

Use it or lose it, folks.

Jeessh!

If there's one thing I can't stand it's people like Theresa constantly hogging this Forum.

Gimme a break!

Good Memories!

O.K. folks, your long term memories are looking good.

For the bonus question what was that "heavenly coffee"?

Jim

Donna Kelley (Velazquez)

Folgers------my guess from across the seas.  Do I get more points, Jim?

04/29/24 07:08 PM #13859

James Hamilton, M. D.

Donna,

Sorry Donna, it was not Folger's, but you get points from Mrs. Olson for trying ☕!

Jim

Jodelle Sims

Chock full o'nuts that heavenly coffee

04/29/24 08:57 PM #13861

Michael McLeod

Kinda disappointed in you, Donna. My perception of you as an informed, well-traveled, sophisticated woman of the world just went out the door. Whereas I'm newly intrigued by Jodelle.

Jodelle,

Excellent!

Last Long Term Memory "Blast from the Past"

O.K., before I fall asleep, one last test of memory: who re-popularized the song "TiptoeThru The Tulips" to our generation?

Jim

Donna Kelley (Velazquez)

Jim, thanks to you and Mrs Olson for the "good try" points. I´m not sure why I even tried a guess on that one since I have been a Café Espreso drinker for 50+ years. smiley

Well done, Jodelle!  Btw I can´t believe that Alayna is old enough to be drinking coffee and heading for college! Tell her I said hi.

Admiration is such a fleeting part of life, Mike, but it was nice while it lasted.

Now that most of you are still asleep I will venture a guess for Jim´s last quiz question:  Tiny Tim (such an attractive lad).

In all seriousness Donna, if you don't mind, where are you? I think somewhere along the line you mentioned you were overseas.

If that's not a dated expression...."overseas." Feels kinda old fashoned.

I need a favor. Rylee Steinbeck is my granddaughter. She was nominated to be athlete of the week by the Columbus Dispatch. Rylee already committed to play lacrosse at St. Leo University in Florida. She is a junior at Worthington Kilbourne High School. She is a great student and a fantastic player; Sue and I are so proud of her. She needs a ton of votes in order to receive the award. You can vote for Rylee Steinbeck by going to Dispatch.com, then click on sports, then scroll down to high school athlete of the week and vote for Rylee Steinbeck. We did not notice her nomination and we have a late start. Rylee is 200 votes behind. This is not an impossible number to overcome. Thank You So Much! Mike Boulware
