We have a couple of our Texas classmates in need of your prayers! We have been praying for Guido Boggioni (class of ‘65 and husband of our Bonnie Jonas) for some time as he battles his Epiglottis cancer. His scan, while making huge progress, was not clear yet so two more chemo treatments ahead. Guido, and Bonnie as his caregiver, can use your prayers.
Now our dear friend Linda Baer has just completed radiation and chemo for a small, but unfortunately inoperable tumor discovered during a colonoscopy. She can use your prayers that this takes care of it.
Both Guido and Linda have been very ill and your kind words, thoughts and prayers will be so appreciated! Guido is under Guests at bottom of our classmate list on the website if you want to send him a message and of course Linda is under classmates. We love you!

This news from Mary Margaret:
Hi All. I wanted to let everyone know that Toni Cardi was readmitted to the hospital this past Sunday. After an MRI on Monday, it was determined that she had suffered either a series of small mini-strokes or something a bit more serious. She has been moved to the new neuroscience wing of Riverside Methodist Hospital and is in room 2010. The direct phone number to her room is 614-544-7774. When I spoke to her yesterday, she said that she was scheduled to undergo more testing today in order to determine exactly which type of stroke and which medications would be best to prevent a recurrence. She gave me permission to provide this information to everyone and that she would be most appreciative for prayers to be said for the state of her health going forward. Apparently, both of her parents passed away from the effects of high blood pressure and so she is, understandably, quite worried. MM

We are saddened to tell you that our classmate Bill DeLong has passed away April 26 after a battle with Pancreatic cancer. He lived in Stow outside of Akron and his service is there this Friday.

Obituary for William DeLong
William H. DeLong, 68, of Stow joined the Lord after a silent struggle with pancreatic cancer.
Prior to marrying the love of his life in 1973, Bill was born September 23, 1948 in Columbus, graduated from Bishop Watterson HS ('66), and earned his degree in Electronics Engineering from Ohio Institute of Technology ('72).
An automotive enthusiast, Bill was a member of SCCA racing teams in the early 70s. He also fondly remembered his time with Wang Laboratories in the 1980s, where his project teams worked on cutting edge technology. That said, it was his lifelong love of the outdoors that left an indelible mark on future generations. Whether fishing, watching sporting events, playing catch, or working in the yard, those quiet moments are where Bill connected with so many of us.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sandra (Kutney), his son Aaron, daughter-in-law Cynthia (neé Meyer), and grandchildren Tomasina, Aaron James, and Morgan. He also leaves behind numerous siblings-in-law, nieces, and nephews with whom he shared unique, valued relationships.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, May 5 from 6-8 PM at Dunn Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt. 91). A memorial Mass will be held at Holy Family Church (3179 Kent Rd., Stow) on Saturday, May 6 at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to UH Seidman Cancer Center or Hospice of the Western Reserve, whose care of Bill in his final days was greatly appreciated.

Mary Kay DiNovo has been helping her but Toni has no family nearby and if anyone can assist that would be great. Toni is not on her computer now so here is her phone number. Great report back from Bob Bunsey on his recent surgery!
"I wanted to pass on some wonderful news that I received yesterday afternoon. My cardiologist called to tell me that the TEE test that I had Tuesday morning looked great and the heart surgery that I had on July 9th was a "fantastic success". He indicated that the implanted Watchman device was working properly and not leaking clots into my bloodstream. The payoff is that I can stop taking Coumadin, the blood thinner that nearly took my life on two occasions.
I want to thank everyone for their continued prayers, encouragement and personal comments about their's and their spouse's heart condition and experience with Atrial Fibrillation.
I have to have a follow up TEE test in a year to make sure everything continues to go well. I'll let you know how things are as my journey continues.
Yesterday was one of the greatest days of my life, only surpassed by the days that my children and grandchildren were born and the day that my beautiful wife Joan of 41 years agreed to marry me. A GREAT WONDERFUL DAY TO BE ALIVE!!!!"

Our classmate Bob Bunsey had successful surgery this week to implant a new device called a "Watchman" to prevent strokes in those with Atrial Fibrillation. Click on the link to see Bob on 10TV news.

I'm having heart surgery tomorrow morning at Riverside Methodist Hospital. I have atrial fibrillation where the heart doesn't pump properly and they've had me on blood thinners for several years. I've had several occurrences where I've started bleeding internally with the worst happening 3 years ago which required 3 nights in intensive care, 8 pints of blood transfusions and nearly the loss of my life.
The surgery that they will be doing tomorrow is the implanting of a device in the left atrial apendage called the "Watchman". It is intended to keep blood clots that pool in this part of my heart from breaking off and heading to the brain to cause a stroke. My surgery will be the first time it has ever been done at Riverside since recently having been approved by the FDA. When I was at the hospital today for a preliminary test 10 TV asked me if they could do an interview, so look for be on the 5:30 PM news tomorrow evening.
Your prayers and good thoughts would really be appreciated as I'm going through the surgery tomorrow morning at 8:30AM and the start of this newest chapter of my life. Thanks!!

Mapes Nancy A. (Kattenhorn) Mapes, 66, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 at her home. She was the wife of the late Dennis M. Mapes. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at HEFFNER FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORY, INC., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, PA. A visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the Funeral Chapel. Born April 18, 1948 in St. Petersburg, FL, a daughter of Mary (Finch) Kattenhorn of Dublin, OH and the late Wilbur P. Kattenhorn, she was the school nurse at Roundtown Elementary School in York. Mrs. Mapes had previously worked at York Memorial Hospital and Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH. Nancy was a member of the Catholic Church and would often be found volunteering for numerous organizations. She cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren and loved being part of their lives and activities. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Mapes is survived by two daughters, Stacy A. and husband, Ferdinand Maloney and Jenna E. Mapes, both of York; two sons, Chadwick M. Lorraine Heitchue can also use your prayers. Her husband, Roger Fox, had a debilitating stroke a year ago and still does not talk. Lorraine was his caregiver until having gall bladder surgery in August. As a rare complication it damaged her optic nerves and has affected her vision. Please pray for their recoveries.

Last summer we asked you to pray for Nancy Kattenhorn Mapes as she underwent a bone marrow transplant at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore to combat her AML Leukemia. Although her son was a match the procedure was not successful. Nancy must have blood tranfusions and platelets two days a week. Please pray that she goes into remission and of course for a cure for this illness.

Sue Endebrock Scribner will undergo Open Heart Surgery tomorrow in Fairfax, VA. The surgeon assures the family that Sue is at low risk and should expect excellent results but they request your prayers for a successful surgery and speedy recovery.

A beloved mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, teacher, mentor, and friend, Jane Klenotic lost her two-year battle with cancer on July 30, 2014.
A long-time resident of Northeast Ohio, Jane was a passionate teacher who dedicated 26 years to the academic and spiritual needs of the second graders of St. Hilary School, Fairlawn.
Preceded in death by her mother, Vern; father, Edward; brother, Timothy; sister, Ann, and husband, Andrew Jr.; Jane is survived by her children, Andrew III, Jennifer, and Kevin; sisters, Bridgid, Ellen and Mary (George); and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday, August 3rd from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. in Fairlawn. Jane Clifford (Kenotic) has been on our prayer list since last year. Unfortunately Jane has advanced colon cancer that has now spread and she is in hospice care. Jane is not active on our website so If you want to reach Jane or send a note to her please send through Kathy Wintering and she will see that Jane receives your message.
Nancy Kattenhorn (Mapes) was diagnosed with Leukemia earlier this year and has been undergoing chemo therapy. Her sister Janet has been there to help take her to her treatments at Johns Hopkins an hour away. Nancy will undergo a bone marrow transplant later in July and her youngest son will be the donor. Nancy sounded good and has high hopes for a successful outcome. Please include Nancy in your prayers!
Jane Koob (Kunkler) has been undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, Jane looks great and says she is doing well. Her cancer was caught in an early stage but Jane says prayers are always welcome!

John M Favret, 65, of Williamsburg, VA, passed into God’s hands at home on May 23, 2014, with his wife at his side. He was born Aug 3 1948 in Columbus, OH. A graduate of Ohio Dominican University and The Ohio State University with a Masters in Social Work, he was Director of Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg for 18... years and a member of American Legion Post 239 SAL, Worthington, OH. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Nursing Home Administrator, John worked as a mental health services provider throughout his entire professional career. In Ohio, he was employed with private and community facilities as well as with the Ohio Department of Mental Health. Moving to Virginia in 1986, he worked for First Hospital Corporation, Charter Westbrook Hospital, Eastern Physicians & Associates, Portsmouth Psychiatric Center; Tidewater Psychiatric Institute, and the Psychiatric Institute of Washington, D.C. In January 1992, Mr. Favret became the Eastern State Hospital Director where he continued until his retirement. He was actively involved in many community outreach programs and civic organizations including: Olde Towne Medical Clinic, Center on Aging and Geriatric Health, Dream Catchers Therapeutic Riding Center, Kiwanis Club, and the Williamsburg Area Chamber of Commerce. He was honored in 2000 as Citizen of the Year by the Williamsburg Area of Chamber of Commerce. He has also received the Prentis award from the College of William and Mary in 2001 and the James City County Excellence in Service award in 2007. Preceded in death by parents, Ann W and James L Favret, brother Charles A, and nephew David M. Survived by wife Cynthia M, sons Michael G, Zachary A, Sean Gerard and grandson Vance. Schieser Jane Gordon Schieser, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at The Convalarium at Indian Run, Dublin, Ohio. Jane was the devoted spouse of Warren Schieser for 44 years. Formerly, she was Dominican Sister Mary Frederick who was at Bishop Watterson High School for ten years, serving as Chairperson of the English Department and Assistant Principal. After leaving the convent, she was an English teacher at Worthington High School. Jane was born in 1923 in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late William and Margaret Gordon. She had a Master of Arts degree from Notre Dame University. Jane loved traveling and sailing. She was a founding member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Powell, Ohio. Jane is survived by her husband, Warren; sister, Ellen (John) Dye; children, Donald Schieser, Stephen (Laurie) Schieser and Rebecca (Gene) Ratajczak; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Many of you will remember Pat McGreevy. Pat was at Watterson our freshman year but hung around with our class even as he finished at North. He usually came to our friday night reunion party. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Pat "The Chief" McGreevy, age 65 of Upper Arlington, passed away Tuesday,
October 1, 2013. Pat was a leader, a talker, a source of comfort and love, an
inspiration, a go-getter and an over-all "one-of a kind" type of guy. Pat was
born in Columbus and grew up in Clintonville, son of the late John (Mac) and
Eileen McGreevy. Pat attended Immaculate Conception and Bishop Watterson High
School and graduated from North High School. Following, Pat then graduated from
The Ohio State University. He worked as a former Lobbyist and also a real estate
investor. There were a couple of trademarks that Pat claimed everyone around
town knew him by... His white 82' Buick Riviera convertible that he drove around
Columbus for over 20 years honking his horn to any familiar face he saw, his
gray mustache that he had for 35 years, or his stunning looks as he jokingly
referred to himself often as "Dark Handsome Irish - The most handsome man in
Columbus". Pat was truly a character and everyone would agree that there is NO
ONE else in the world quite like him. If you knew him, you had most likely heard
that phrase, "You hear me or You know what I mean" come out of his mouth. even
if you didn't know what he meant.He had an outgoing personality and never met a
stranger. He was a man that had strong values of simplicity in life and truly
embraced family traditions. Up until he was sick, it was a known fact that he
had never taken time to sit down and take a nap. He was on the go and ready at
all times to live his life to the fullest. He was active in the Indian Guides
and Princesses. Pat loved the Buckeyes, Columbus Clippers, politics, reading a
book in the front yard, traveling, bike rides and hiking. But most of all, Pat
cherished the time spent with family, especially his granddaughter Annie. From
heaven he will be looking over and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of
34 years, Connie McGreevy; children Jessica, Ryan and Maggie McGreevy;
granddaughter, Annie McGreevy; siblings, Jim McGreevy, Jean McGreevy, Marianne
(Mike) Haught, Cathy (Patrick) Eisnaugle and Julie (Colin) Campbell;
sister-in-law, Betsy Loeb; brother-in-law, Charles (Maryanne) Loeb; and many

WALKER
Richard L. Walker, recently of Las Vegas, NV, age 79, died Monday January 14, 2013. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio and formerly married to Eleanor D. Walker of Columbus. He is survived by Eleanor and their children, Thomas (spouse, Dianna), Kim (Dick Kurth) and Brad (Angela); grandchildren, Danny, Thomas, and Lauren Kurth, Lennon and Sienna Walker. He served in the US Army as a Lieutenant. He was a graduate of John Carroll University, inducted into the JCU Hall of Fame, with Masters Degree from OSU. He was a History teacher and head football coach at Watterson HS (Columbus, OH - where his 1966 team won the State of Ohio Football Championship), assistant coach at the University of Toledo, US Naval Academy, The Ohio State University (5 Big Ten Championships, National Championship), New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers (2 Super Bowl Championships) and stints with the USFL and CFL. "Dick" ("Doak") Walker was born of less than privileged means, however, a chance meeting led to a "try out" and eventual football scholarship at John Carroll University that changed his life potential and trajectory. He devoted his career to the development and betterment of young men, and people in general. The experiences he gained, people he met, and those he influenced during his lifetime - are his legacy. With regard to this legacy, he died one of the wealthiest men on the planet. There will be no funeral arrangements. A memorial mass and reception will be held in Columbus, Ohio January 26, 2013 at Bishop Watterson H.S. The mass, performed by the Rev. Michael Watson, will begin at 11 a.m. with reception at 12Noon. The family wishes that, in lieu of flowers, donations be designated to the "Bishop Watterson Football Coaches Legend Endowment Fund." Many of you knew Msgr. Kenneth Grimes. Although he became Principal at Watterson after we graduated he was also a pastor at Our Lady of Peace for many years as well as assisting at Holy Name, St. Agatha, and St. Andrew's parishes over the years. Fr. Grimes died this past weekend of cancer. His obituary follows and we have also included a link to the Watterson High School website where they have posted a nice article about him.

Reverend Monsignor Kenneth F. Grimes, age 80, died on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor. The son of J. Colby and Rebecca (Ryan) Grimes, he was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 14, 1931. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy Quinn, brother Daniel and nephew Msgr. Colby Grimes. He is survived by brother, Colby; sister, Suzanne Haney; and many nieces, nephews and their families. He attended St. Mary Magdalene School, Columbus and St. Charles High School and College, receiving a B.A. in Philosophy in 1953. He subsequently studied theology at Mount St. Mary of the West Seminary, Norwood, Ohio, from which he graduated in 1957, and studied at The Ohio State University where he received his Masters in Education in 1964. He was ordained to the Priesthood May 25, 1957 by the Most Reverend Edward G. Hettinger. In 1992 he was named Monsignor when His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, bestowed upon him the title Prelate of Honor. Monsignor Grimes served as assistant pastor at St. Francis De Sales Church, Newark (1957-60) while also teaching at Newark Catholic High School and serving as Chaplain of the Diocesan Committee on Scouting for Boys (1958-60). Instructor at Bishop Watterson High School, with residence at Our Lady of Peace Church, Columbus (1960-64); instructor with residence at Bishop Ready High School (1964-65).He served as Principal of Notre Dame High School, Portsmouth (1965-70); Assistant Superintendent of Schools (1970-76) with residency at Holy Name Church (1970-71); Principal of Bishop Watterson High School (1971-76); Co-Pastor, St. Agatha Church, Columbus, (1976-78) and then Pastor (1978-86); Pastor of Our Lady of Peace Church, Columbus, (1986-2006) from which he retired from assigned priestly ministry. In addition to his devoted service to his parishes, as well as his many accomplishments in the field of education, Msgr. also served as Chaplain of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1973 to 1995. His appointment came as a result of his friendship with longtime House Speaker Vern Riffe. During his retirement, he lived and assisted at St. Andrew Church, Columbus. Msgr. Grimes will be remembered as a beloved pastor, principal, teacher, coach, son, brother, uncle and friend. Monsignor's body will be received at Our Lady of Peace Church, 20 E. Dominion Blvd., Columbus on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 2 p.m. where friends may call from 2-8 p.m. and again on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 10 a.m. until the Funeral Mass, which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Bishop Frederick F. Campbell will be the principal celebrant, Bishop James A. Griffin and Bishop Robert Donnelly (a classmate of Msgr. Grimes) will concelebrate and Rev. Michael Watson will offer the homily. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery will take place after a bereavement meal hosted by Our Lady of Peace Church. In lieu of flowers. please consider a donation to the Msgr. Many of you will remember a classmate of ours from St. Agatha and Watterson, Susan Galbreath. She finished hight school in Switzerland and so was not actually part of our official graduating class, but like a number of others we consider her part of our Reunion group.

Last week Colleen Cotter Blumer underwent triple heart bypass surgery in Cincinnati after having suffered a heart attack. She is very lucky to be alive and has returned home to continue recuperating. Colleen kept a Caring Bridge Journal when her husband Gabe had a Kidney transplant 2 1/2 years ago so we are hoping he will do the same for her. We will post the link if this happens. :)

BAILIE, O.P. Ellen (Mary Paschal) Bailie, Dominican Sister of Peace, O.P., died at Mohun Health Care Center on Friday, November 19, 2010. She was born in New York, NY, on January 1, 1931, to Alexander and Agnes (Darragh) Bailie. She entered the Novitiate of the former Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus in 1953 and made her Profession of Vows in 1955. Sr. Ellen earned a BA and an MA from Hunter College of New York and a PhD from Indiana University. She ministered in the Columbus Diocese at St. Gabriel GS (1955-56); St. Mary Lancaster GS (1956-57); Newark Catholic High School (1958-59); Bishop Watterson (1959-61, 1964-67, 1974-76); and Ohio Dominican College (now Ohio Dominican University, 1977-78). Sr. Ellen also taught at Bliss and Heidelberg Colleges and Franklin and Urbana Universities and at schools in Connecticut, New York, and Michigan. She worked as an editor at Learning Design Associates in Columbus and served as editor of the Congregation's internal publication, Contact, from 2000 to 2009. In addition, she tutored a number of students at the Dominican Learning Center before moving to Mohun Health Care Center in 2010. Sr. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Fr. Robert Bailie, OP, and Alexander Bailie. She is survived by her sister, Dominican Sister of Peace Ann Bailie; sister-in-law, Margaret G. Bailie; and several nieces and nephews. Reception of the Body will take place at the Columbus Motherhouse on Monday, November 22, at 3 p.m. Evening Prayer of Office for the Dead will be held at 4:45 p.m. with viewing continuing until 7 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be on Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. WAGNER 0.P. Sr. Ursula Marie Wagner, OP, age 90, Dominican Sister of Peace, died Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Mohun Health Care Center. She was born in Columbus, OH, on September 28, 1920 to John and Ida (Tornes) Wagner. She entered the Novitiate of the former Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus in 1938 and made her Profession of Vows in 1940. Sister served as Directress of St. Mary of the Springs Academy from 1956 to 1958 and as Principal of St. Francis High School, McKees Rocks, PA, from 1965 to 1970. Sr. Ursula Marie earned a BA from St. Mary of the Springs College (now Ohio Dominican University) and an MA from Notre Dame University. She ministered in the Columbus Diocese at Watterson High School (1954-56, 1961-64, 1970-98). Sister also taught at schools in Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania. She was one of the founding faculty members of Bishop Watterson High School and ministered there for thirty-three years where she received various honors and recognition. Sister was a resident volunteer at the Motherhouse before entering Mohun Health Care Center in 2007. Sr. Ursula Marie was preceded in death by brothers Louis and James Wagner and a sister Lucille Rogers. She is survived by her sister, Colette Compton of Columbus; and nieces and nephews. Reception of the Body will take place at the Columbus Motherhouse on Tuesday, November 23, at 3 p.m. Evening Prayer of Office for the Dead will be held at 4:45 p.m. with viewing continuing until 7 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be on Wednesday at 9 a.m. followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. PRYOR Jonathan Wesley Pryor, age 27, passed away on June 25, 2011. He was born on September 19, 1983, in Columbus. Preceded in death by brother Neil Galbreath Pryor, grandparents Gerald H. Galbreath Jr., George M. Pryor Sr., and Marcia H. Pryor. Survived by parents, George M. Pryor Jr. and Susan Galbreath Pryor; brother, George M. Pryor III; sister, Eszter B. Pryor; grandmother, Margaret B. Galbreath; and many loving relatives and friends. Jon graduated from New Albany High School in June of 2002. He was enrolled to attend the University of Washington in Seattle, when he was involved in a tragic vehicle accident. Jon fought a courageous battle for nine years. He had loved backpacking, scuba diving, photography, and had a passion for the environmental sciences. Jon also loved golf, snowboarding, and fly fishing. The families would like to thank the entire staff at Grant Hospital and the New Albany Care Center for the extraordinary care and love extended to Jon for the last 9 years.
