Lynda (Lyn) Zelinski (Rapp)

Lyn L. Rapp, age 75, of Reynoldsburg, died peacefully Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at her home with family at her side after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

A career paramedic and firefighter, she retired from Truro Township Fire Department in Reynoldsburg, where she had the honor of being the department's first female responder. She was also a former firefighter and medic at West Licking Joint Fire District in Pataskala as well as a medic with Mt. Carmel Health System. She was a fire safety inspector, she taught at the Ohio Fire Academy, and she was an ice and river rescue instructor at Columbus State Community College.

Lyn served on the ski patrol for Clear Fork Ski Resort, was a volunteer for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and was a licensed massage therapist. She was a member of the Columbus Ski Club and raced for NASTAR.

An accomplished quilter, she was a National Quilt Museum member, a member of the American Quilt Society and participated with local quilting guilds.

A role model for female strength and independence, she was often affectionately described by many as a “bad ass.” She will be remembered for never turning down an adventure and for baking desserts for those she loved.

She was born November 9, 1948 in Columbus to the late William and Elizabeth Callahan Zelinski. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by two brothers, William H. Zelinski, Jr., his wife, Donna, and Timothy Zelinski.

She is survived by her daughters, Valerie (Gary) Fuller of Marysville and Kendra Rapp of Gig Harbor, Washington; a grandson, Michael Fuller; a granddaughter, Gabriella Feinstein; her siblings, David (Jo) Zelinski, Daniel (Suzi) Zelinski, Michael (Rosemary) Zelinski, and Barbara Speed.

Aunt Lyn will be missed by her nieces and nephews, Zachary (Theresa) Zelinski, Tiffany Brown, Mallory (Blare) Garrison, Tyler Zelinski, Camille (Stephen Rosario) Farley, William Zelinski, Margaret Zelinski, Julia Yates, and Samantha Yates; and many dear friends.
